week two

social listening

Fribo
This encourages socialization, and helps people feel connected.
Three things people are saying about this new product:
1. "looks like Babbadook" this is a negative response, The Babbadook is a horror movie.
2. "This reminded me of Tamagotchi" I take this as a positive, those were a huge hit.
3. "...how about walking outside and saying 'Hi' to someone? These people are lonely because they're always on their phones. A virtual group of friends isn't going to change that"
The particular product they're discussing is a black cat head shaped robot that encourages its users to communicate with their friends and stay connected. Hopefully resulting in people no longer feeling lonely or at least less lonely. This product seems similar to the Amazon echo that has the video capability, but more interactive with texting.
They were covered by CNBC and twitter seems to be talking about it, giving it extra media. This product is aimed for the younger generation, so platforms such as twitter are an important way to promote this product.
I would reach out to people on twitter and other platforms to get their input. If people had similar complaints, that could be addressed. Or if people had compliments, use that as another marketing tool to gain more customers.
